Privacy policy

Effective 27 August 2026

1. Who we are

Watching in Prayer provides mobile tools for personal and shared prayer, Bible study, notes, media listening, and related features. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Watching in Prayer.

Questions or privacy requests can be sent to info@watchinginprayer.com.

2. Information we collect

  • Account and profile information: your name, email address, password in protected form, profile photo, preferences, and account status.
  • Content you provide: prayer projects and points, notes, highlights, bookmarks, journal entries, comments, shared content, and messages you send to support.
  • Audio, images, and session content: recordings, dictation, profile images, attachments, live-prayer participation, and related metadata when you choose to use those features.
  • App, device, and usage information: app version, device and notification tokens, IP address, sign-in and security records, feature interactions, session participation, playback progress, and diagnostic logs.
  • Information from other people: invitations, shared projects, collaborative content, or references to you that another user submits through a shared feature.

3. Device permissions

The app may ask for access to your microphone for prayer sessions, recordings, dictation, or voice features; your camera or photo library for profile images and attachments; and notifications for reminders, invitations, calls, and account updates. You can change these permissions in your device settings. We do not access a permission until the relevant feature needs it and your device permits it.

4. How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; store and synchronise your content; operate personal and collaborative prayer features; play and remember media progress; deliver reminders and notifications; provide support; prevent abuse; diagnose reliability problems; and improve the service.

Where an optional feature uses speech recognition, transcription, semantic search, or another artificial-intelligence service, the text, audio, or query needed for that feature may be processed by a specialist service provider. We use it to return the feature you requested, not to sell your personal information or serve targeted advertising.

5. Legal bases

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to provide the service you request and perform our agreement with you; for legitimate interests such as security, support, and service improvement; with your consent where a feature or device permission requires it; and where necessary to comply with law.

6. When information is shared

  • At your direction: with people you invite, collaborate with, or choose to share content with. Content in a public project may be visible to its intended audience.
  • Service providers: with providers that support hosting, storage and content delivery, email, notifications, live communications, security, media processing, and optional AI features. They may process information only to provide services to us and must protect it appropriately.
  • Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect people, investigate abuse, or defend the rights and security of Watching in Prayer and its users.
  • Organisational changes: as part of a merger, financing, reorganisation, or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice where required.

We do not sell personal information and do not use it for cross-service targeted advertising.

7. International processing

Our service providers and infrastructure may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use contractual or other recognised safeguards for those transfers.

8. Retention and deletion

We keep account information and user content while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. Different records may be kept for shorter or longer periods when needed for security, dispute resolution, legal obligations, or backup integrity. Deleted material may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before normal backup rotation removes it.

You can delete individual content using available app controls. To request account deletion, contact info@watchinginprayer.com from the email address connected to your account. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

9. Your choices and rights

You can update profile details and notification preferences in the app, change device permissions in system settings, and control what you share. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise a right; legal exceptions may apply.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong password, protect access to your device, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

11. Children

Watching in Prayer is not directed to children who are unable to consent to an online service under the law where they live. A parent or guardian should contact us if they believe a child supplied personal information without the required permission.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or law changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects how we use personal information.

13. Contact

Email privacy questions and requests to info@watchinginprayer.com, or use our contact page.
